unusual weather year for the Atlantic
2005 is definitely going down as an unusual weather year for the Atlantic, all the year-end wrap-ups which cited a record 26 tropical storms in the North Atlantic hurricane season got it wrong. On December 30, tropical storm Zeta formed in the North Atlantic, pushing the record for tropical storms to 27, six above the previous record of 21, set in 1933. Only one other tropical storm (Alice) has formed this late in the year, which was on December 30, 1954. Should we be concerned, does this mean global warming is doing strange things to the Atlantic weather system? God knows, I'm no expert but its got to raise some eye brows and make a few more of us do our small part, so remember to recycle, reuse and reduce where possible, are you going to in 2006?
