Progress left some good stuff behind
You know I was doing a bit of doodling around this evening through my music collection, and got into an old school classic groove, don't ask me where I started out, anyway I ended up finishing on Shelby Lynne's recent album of Dusty Springfield covers, then the next thing I'm looking at her website, So Shelby Lynne equals surfing, err no, but a recent blog entry by her on Studer 2-inch tape gave me one of those moments where you see a parallel, where progress left some good stuff behind, and surfing's done that, but in the last one to two years for sure its rejuvenating itself with mainstream designs inspired by the past, and also inspired but still forward thinking, look at the resurgence in keel fish, quads, then folks like Webber pushing the double concave to extremes in shortboards...its all got to be good. How much fun is it to turn up at the beach see a mate with a weird board and want to touch it, feel it and oh err misses give it a good looking over? Christ I might even have to credit those frenchies and say 'viv la difference' (no offence Stephane).
