Board Shorts 2008 at Sandsifter, Gwithian 8th Nov

Board Shorts in association with Sharps Doom Bar, the Cornwall Film Festival’s board sports film event, returns to the Sandsifter Bar in Gwithian on Saturday 8th November, 19:00 – Late.

This not-to-be-missed event will showcase short films and slideshows from a band of local and international talent, documenting the wonderful world of wave riding in all its forms.

Oversubscribed every year since its inception, Cornwall Film Festival have trebled the capacity of the venue to include a marquee to accommodate the expanding Board Shorts audience.

Screenings will be followed by music from Mark Kermode’s Skiffle band, The Dodge Brothers and local DJ’s Sir Vinyl of the Fattest.

The quality of the entries for this year’s event are outstanding, with entries from the UK’s very best surf filmmakers as well as some amazing international filmmaking talent and slideshows, to wow and inspire.

Prizes for the best short films will be awarded by a panel of international and local judges including Alan Stokes, Elliot Dudley and Mark Kermode from the BBC’s Culture show.

Cornwall College will be awarding a cash prize to the Board Shorts 2008, Film of the Festival Award, Finisterre will be awarding the prize to the Board Shorts 2008, Most Inspirational Film and Leap Design for Change are supporters of the Board Shorts 2008, Most Innovative Film.

The Extreme Sports Channel, Board Shorts’ official Media Partner, will be selecting films for broadcast!
