Sand dredging the river-mouth, could it create a classic left and right?

Hayle rivermouth being dredged 2009-01-09There's been a couple of dredgers in Hayle estuary for a while now deepening the channel into the harbour, to my surprise today they were out in the rivermouth proper deepening the most exposed area of the navigable channel.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but it got me thinking with a decent swell on the way for late in the weekend and next week, what state are the banks going to be in, could we have some classic left and rights by the channel, or slack ass waves rolling into a closeout; Fingers crossed it's the former.

It's also pretty ironic that the sign on the cliff edge reads "cliff unstable due to erosion", and the dredgers are deepening the channel allowing the ocean easier access to do her damage.

I surfed there on sat 3rd, there was a very consistant left which was a bit too fast but then for half an hour went fantastic, 150 yard yards with some genuinely hollow sections. Then as quicky as it came it stopped. Oh for a classic, consistant Cornish rivermouth break!

Mark, totally agree, we've so few good rivermouth or point breaks in Cornwall, it's almost depressing, and they're fickle beasts at that, mind over this last month of swell I've managed to score three, one the best I've ever had it, so no complaints. Its made me determined to do a bit more travelling this year on those BIG swells.

2 more random spots scored today, one left hand one right hand, I'm on a roll.
