Brighton Marina surf spot saved
It's great to know that pressure from surfers along with other voices can save a wave. The planning application for the Eastern Arm of Brighton Marina has been withdrawn by the developers.
It is suspected that the developers had probably been told by the Council that it was going to be recommended for refusal for a number of reasons including the damage to the surf break. This is fantastic news and a tribute to everyone who campaigned against it, written letters, signed petitions and got the support of the British Surfing Association, Sport England, the Environment Agency, local residents, councillors, candidate MPs and others.
It would be good to think that a similarly organised campaign could work similar magic for the proposed development of Penzance harbour.
