Rules by Slide Mag
Just picked up these rules from Slide Mag and had to share:-
- No matter how many fin keys you own, the length of time it takes to find one is in direct proportion to the quality of the waves.
- There is no way round a wet wetsuit in the winter, buy two.
- It will take exactly five minutes from when you buy a new board until you ding it on a lampost, door frame or car.
- People that work at surf mags are all extremely virile, witty and great in bed (Ed. Uh Umm, are you sure guys?)
- Never believe a surf report from a surf shop, it’s always ‘3-foot and pretty fun’. When you drive for a couple of hours and find it’s 3-inch ripples you’re bound to hit the local surf shop for some retail therapy.
- Don’t be afraid of trying new board technologies.
- Do make your shaper a friend. Production line boards may work but the custom will always be king.
- Always have a spare leash.
- Always have a spare leash string (Ed: and a way to thread it through that deviously small aperture of the leash plug)
- Don’t be a prick in the water, everyone’s a kook at some point in their life, smile or karma will get ya. (Ed: been there got the t-shirt, and seen others rob it off me with better tantrums)
There's got to be more so send 'em in folks....

Do empty your bowls before going to surf in big waves.
Mark, Truro
Do leave a bottle of water in the car when surfing hung over.
Always smile and always hoot a good wave.

Announcing that you're gonna "Get the next one in" guarantees at least a half hour wait.
