Godrevy Red River pollution
Now I know when its raining, you'd expect rivers to run with a bit of muck, but this much? I dread to think what else is in there apart from silt knowing theres a CSO up stream on the Red River at Godrevy/Gwithian. If you want to report something like this the Environment Agency Hotline is 0800 80 70 60.
And from another angle

That's why we call it Red River. It's to do with Mining you know.

Its called the Red River historically because of the mineral deposits associated with tin mining which use to colour its water red. Today when it turns red its most likely a mix of farm run off, CSO overflow, and residual chemicals from mining, ie. its pollution, some of which is avoidable, I wish it all was.

I remember when it was like that EVERY DAY. That is going back a fair few years though. Got some baby pics of me splashing round in the red stuff, no worries. Back then, you could tell who the local surfers were because all the white panels on their wetsuits had turned pink. All you need now is a BSA sticker or a van...

Yeah ok, scrutinise the details! Not as many flashy white panels back then, but there were a few fluorescent ones. The majority turned a shitty beige or pink, even the black ones (with enough water time).
