Mini Simmons
New progressive log or go smaller? That's my dilema, and shorter might be winning, always fancied a mini simmons, well a large mini simmons for those that know me, and when you see boards like this, how could you not fancy adding one to the quiver.

Good idea! When you snap your longboard, just wack a couple of skegs on the nose piece and keep on riding it!

It's not the past, its just accepting that I'm a large bugger and a logger, so a design with lots of volume is the way forward if I loose board length, result fish and mini-simmons are looking like a good option, and everyone rides fish at the mo, and I fancy something different, its good to shake it up.

I think a swallowtail looks prettier but that bit of extra foam in the back must add to it's paddleabilty. What does a swallowtail actually achieve anyway?

Past... History repeats & this little gem deserves the rights to be back 40's or not... Its getting introduced with a slight twist & a few new idea's!

These things fly & a 5ft version and up can be great fun...

Swallow allows width & a shaper edge for grip & drive... Due to the width this allows it to generate speed... Reason why Ozzy Wright rides them, as great speed air are available :)

People with passion, whether they believe in the Simmons concept or not, f**k it's great to see folks standing for what they believe in. Personally I can't wait for my new mini-simmons inspired board to arrive. I'll be sharing some photos when she's here and letting you know about the local shaper who's as stoked as me to be on the project. Will the new board fore-fill my hopes? It's sure going to be fun finding out.

To the dissenters on this project; if your old, have surfed through the different styles of boards culminating with the modern shortboard, and embrace the 'modern shortboard', then I understand your descent.
dave
If you've not had that depth of experience, then you don't have a leg to stand on with your comments.
Me personally, I got into surfing late in life. To me, the current take on a mini-simmons is yet something else to be experienced.
I'm not a competition surfer; I'm someone who surfs to have fun, to find that special state we all love when riding a wave, and if I can explore/experience and start to understand the heritage of surfing through different shapes, then you know what I'm going to do it, It just makes sense to me.
To it me feels like the mini-simmons design is one which currently is not fixed, it's a work in progress, so it's not drug fuelled (unless we're talking cofee), but is fuelled by shapers/surfers trying to find new working shapes on a wave, and what could be wrong with that?

Sure the Mini Simmons board you get will be a fun board Dave & 'Amen' to the 'Fun' side of surfing. Too much competitiveness in the water just leads to attitude that destroys the whole concept of soul surfing where its at.
Dale Walker
They tend to be a little too much 'Image' in the water these days I say... You enjoying your break???
Hope your well
