Are you a tosser?

I was dropped in on two weeks back, which frankly this summer is pretty rare, as there's been so little decent surf. But long story short after turning and missing the guy, he then tossed his board, result I got a fin cut to my foot from his fins while I towed him for a few feet held underwater by his own leash.

beware loose surfboards
beware loose surfboards

There's a lesson here, to me kick out sooner, to folks who toss their boards, DON'T, there are other folks in the water; When you bail your board to keep yourself safe, your sending a chunk of glassed foam and sharp fins into someone else's path most likely, Not Good, and just as importantly your board is a float, if your getting hit by waves and held down, your board will bring you back to the surface faster, DON'T let go of it, it's a life saver. Seems not only surf etiquette is a thing of the past but so is common sense these days for some surfers.

here, here, dave, not sure how this message it got over to the
mass of sufers without causing agro, sounding like police
or decending into localism. the only way i see things getting better is if everyone voices their disapproval when individual behave badly. this outing should include very good surfers who dominate breaks they should set the example to others and let a few through.
there is no better session as the one where surfers share waves respectful of each other unfortunately in an ever crowd sea this is rare.

and as for the paddleboarders at gwithian yesterday (5th), throwing their boards with no skill whatsoever, don't even get me started. Mix it up with all shapes and sizes, share and chill. Luckily I watched from a safe distance, but watched one chap get hit by the paddle, then the board!
